What to Take Offshore?

Almost every single corporate practice and process can be taken offshore. Some of the more typical work aspects that are currently being taken offshore include employment from information and communications technology (ICT), graphic and website design, search engine optimization, market research and digital marketing to content writing, data entry, lead generation and customer service. What aspects of your company you decide to take offshore is entirely your choice, but ultimately it should take in to account your overall business requirements, future company direction and the exact company details e.g. size, type, business model, key competencies, capital funds and industry.

Perhaps the first step in understanding if and what to take offshore is to define your key business competencies. To truly get the best use from offshore outsourcing, a company must determine the competitive advantage that they stand to gain from taking the leap. Once this due diligence step is completed, only then should they go about deciding what business practices and/or processes would benefit and operate more efficiently should they be taken overseas. Generally, it is the offshore outsourcing of non-core business competencies that delivers a company the most gain by improving operational efficiency and lending confidence that your offshore business aspects are being well taken care of.

Taking back office type functions such as administration, finance and technical support to overseas offshoring locations such as the Philippines allows a company to dedicate more focus, time and resources on other critical business areas e.g. growth and diversification opportunities that were previously not possible due to time, budget and resource constraints. For several reasons, Scale chose the Philippines as its logical base from which to commence the delivery of offshore outsourcing business solutions to our clients. Key decision factors among these reasons included the greatly reduced costs of hiring high quality staff, the close proximity to Australia, ease of daily communication, the demonstrated capacity to securely deliver services within the offshore outsourcing industry to western business as well as the hugely welcoming and politically stable economic climate.
